Whilst Gavin Dobson is a London based Illustrator, painter and printmaker, he is first and foremost a storyteller. Inspired by the idea of narrative and with a keen desire to take the viewer on a journey - he creates images which exude positivity and passion.
His paintings are intuitively and expressively executed as Gavin enjoys the immediacy, rawness, fluidity and texture of paint on canvas. This energetic approach to mark-making imbues his subjects with life and movement. He captures this well in his screen printing – retaining the painterly approach by embracing drips, brushstrokes and ‘imperfections’. These finished screen prints act as snapshots, capturing a moment of storytelling and inviting the viewer to use their imagination.
