the story

Astrid’s ‘Bubble Face, Autumn Colours’ is inspired by the people and characters she has met around Walthamstow – each with their own stories to tell. Every bubble shape symbolises the shifting layers of identity – the places we live, the people who surround us, and the traces of our own history. Drawing on folklore and ancient masks, Astrid blends the mythical and the everyday. Her figures carry both mystery and warmth – portraits of community and belonging, expressed gently in colour.
