‘Eyes Wide Open’ celebrates the colour and vitality of Walthamstow’s people – the characters Astrid has met locally, each bringing their own spark and story. The faces she paints are joyful, expressive, and filled with curiosity, their many-coloured eyes reflecting the creative energy of the community around her. Inspired by folklore and ancient masks, Astrid blends myth with modern life, capturing a shared spirit of openness and imagination. Her work reminds us that in Walthamstow, life itself looks back – eyes wide open, in colour.
