the artist

Emma is interested in the places and moments where we can find calmness and space as a balance to our busy urban lives. Growing up in the countryside but based in London for the last 25+ years, she is always chasing space. Living in such a dense city, Emma finds herself drawn to creating work that has an open vista and a clear horizon. Continually inspired by nature and landscape, Emma is a natural compositor and uses drawing, photography, painting and printing within her craft of each unique artwork.

the story

Emma’s talent is to suspend the moment, what seems like, for infinity with her hand-painted limited editions – offering calm in the times of turbulence. Nowhere is this more deeply felt than in her seascapes, which capture that sense of quiet you feel when standing by the water.

In ‘A Light Embrace’, Emma takes us to West Wittering, where fast-moving tides reveal wide stretches of flat sand used by walkers, cyclists, and riders. She often visits the coast in the off-season, drawn to the openness and stillness it offers.

The reference material for this piece was gathered over several days in shifting weather – from heavy rain to bright sunshine. Emma combined moments from these different days, each with its own light and atmosphere, to create a work that feels gently held together, almost like a collage of time.

This is a limited edition of 30 hand-finished mixed media prints, available to purchase either unframed or bespoke framed floating in a solid wood box frame behind low-reflect glass measuring 104.5 x 80 cm.

There is an additional packaging & postage charge of £15 for unframed artwork. Due to the framed artwork being large and fragile, contact elina@artsnug.com for a courier quote. The artwork is free to collect from our Walthamstow gallery.
