Emma is interested in the places and moments where we can find calmness and space as a balance to our busy urban lives. Growing up in the countryside but based in London for the last 25+ years, she is always chasing space. Living in such a dense city, Emma finds herself drawn to creating work that has an open vista and a clear horizon. Continually inspired by nature and landscape, Emma is a natural compositor and uses drawing, photography, painting and printing within her craft of each unique artwork.

the story

Emma’s talent is to suspend the moment, what seems like, for infinity with her hand-painted limited editions – offering calm in the times of turbulence. Nowhere is this more deeply felt than in her seascapes, which capture that sense of quiet you feel when standing by the water.

‘A Gift Of This Moment’ is a series of ten monoprinted screenprints, each one completely unique. Emma drew inspiration from a blustery day at Saunton Sands, Devon, where the clouds shifted constantly - suggesting the idea of a single place expressed through ten entirely different skies, each a gift of its particular moment.

To create the series, Emma painted directly onto the silk screen before pulling each one-off print, allowing every pass to become its own fleeting expression. While certain upper layers repeat to root the works in the same landscape, each piece ultimately stands alone, shaped by subtle movements of ink and the immediacy of the moment it captures.
