about the artist

johanna is a London based artist who usually explores contemporary portraiture and the female gaze. her large scale original works are created by pouring layers of diluted oil paint on a flat canvas in a series of translucent and fluid layers, rarely using a paintbrush. In this way the process is spontaneous and unpredictable - holding tension between the controlled and the uncontrolled, representation and abstraction.

the story

‘this artwork pays homage to the first piece of street art i saw when visiting walthamstow, deciding whether to move into the area. it has always been memorable to me and i believe it cemented my understanding of walthamstow as a vibrant, exciting and creative area. i, of course, am delighted to now call e17 home and this piece of street art will always be special to me, part of my journey of discovery of this great neighbourhood.’ - johanna

about the artwork

this is a limited edition of 50 fine art print measuring 30 x 24 cm, each edition hand-embellished with red glitter. it is sold bespoke framed in a black wood frame, measuring 40 x 34 cm.
