about the artist

for local walthamstow artist helen chambers, each painting is a journey of discovery. as she layers paint upon the surface she is continually responding to the ever-changing palette, marks and textures before her. the natural world is her anchor and she employs an expressive, intuitive approach to mark making – taking the finished works outside the boundaries of realism. her landscapes sit in that intriguing space between abstraction and representation – vibrant and immersive.

the story

‘passing storm' captures the fleeting intensity of nature's fury, where dark, swirling clouds give way to a quiet, brooding calm. a moment of raw emotion, frozen in time, as the storm rages and fades into memory.
