about the artist

sarah is a local hackney based artist inspired by her walks around the hackney and walthamstow marshes. her paintings document paths taken and colours emerging over the changing seasons. balancing fine painterly detail with loose gestural mark-making, sarah enjoys exaggerating her colour palette and infusing her source images with vibrancy and energy - bringing a fresh approach to contemporary landscape painting.

the story

‘my recent work is an appreciation of the green spaces and nature reserves of the lea valley and the impact of nature on wellbeing. in this work I experimented with colour and mark making, leaving areas underworked and others packed with detail.’ - sarah
