about the artist
Laura Gee is a Walthamstow-based artist whose intuitive practice explores colour, emotion, and wellbeing through drawing and painting. Her expressive works reflect on motherhood, mental health, and the quiet joy of connecting with nature. Sketching from life in local parks, Laura transforms familiar scenes into vibrant, playful compositions that celebrate presence and renewal. Her art invites the viewer to pause and breathe – to rediscover the beauty of the everyday and the grounding comfort of the natural world.
the story
Inspired by the flowerbeds in Lloyd Park beside the William Morris Gallery, Laura’s painting celebrates the joy these bursts of colour bring to both children and adults. In summer, the bright yellows and pinks feel almost alive – full of warmth, laughter, and light. ‘Flowerbeds Playing In the Sunshine Yellow’ mirrors that playful energy, its bold, naive brushstrokes reflecting the carefree spirit of children running among the blooms. The work captures a moment of pure happiness – a joyful meeting of colour, sunlight, and community.
