about the artist

Laura Gee is a Walthamstow-based artist whose intuitive practice explores colour, emotion, and wellbeing through drawing and painting. Her expressive works reflect on motherhood, mental health, and the quiet joy of connecting with nature. Sketching from life in local parks, Laura transforms familiar scenes into vibrant, playful compositions that celebrate presence and renewal. Her art invites the viewer to pause and breathe – to rediscover the beauty of the everyday and the grounding comfort of the natural world.

the story

‘Purple Slumber’ captures the gentle shift from day to night – that quiet hour when the gardens of Lloyd Park and the William Morris Gallery slip into stillness. Inspired by evening walks bathed in violet light, Laura paints the moment when flowers seem to glow softly as the world drifts toward sleep. This piece celebrates the wild abundance of nature and its calm, unhurried rhythm – a magical pause between daylight and dreaming, where the blooms rest under a sky of deepening purple.
