Seoul-based artist Yanghee Chang captures the quiet tension between isolation and connection – between the self and the endless presence of others. Each piece is a small study of the individual and their place within the collective, a meditation on how anxiety, solitude, and emptiness shape our experience of being among others.

the story

Time runs through Yanghee’s work as both subject and atmosphere. It shapes her exploration of how the self shifts and recalibrates amid the constant presence of others, but it also appears as a striking visual device – her figures seem held in a moment of suspension, stilled against the quiet pressure of the crowd around them. In this pause, Yanghee invites us to slow our own tempo, to notice what rises in the stillness, and to consider how we, too, navigate our sense of self within the collective presence that surrounds us.
