Terms and Conditions for the WalthamStories Open Call

 

A Note to Artists

Your art is a powerful tool for storytelling. By participating in the WalthamStories Open Call, you have the opportunity to share your unique perspective on Waltham Forest and contribute to a vibrant and inspiring artistic community.

 

Terms and Conditions

  1. Submission and Acceptance:

    • All submissions must be received by 31st August 2025.

    • By entering this Open Call, you grant Artsnug permission to publish images of your artwork on our website and in any relevant marketing materials.

    • A selection committee will review all submissions and choose the finalists. The committee's decision is final.

  2. Artwork Requirements:

    • All artworks must be original.

    • Artwork must be available for sale in the Walthamstow gallery.

    • Artsnug retains a 50% commission on all sales.

    • All artworks must be ready to hang on the wall at the time of delivery to the gallery. This includes stretched and framed canvases (with fixtures included) and framed paper artworks that meet the gallery's approval.

  3. Eligibility:

    • The Open Call is open to all artists with a connection to Waltham Forest.

    • Artists must be over the age of 18.

  4. Artwork Submissions:

    • You may submit up to 3 artworks for consideration.

    • Artworks must respond to the theme "WalthamStories: In Colour".

    • Artworks must be finished at the point of submission (no work-in-progress artworks will be considered as a valid entry).

  5. Artwork Specifications:

    • We accept original works in the form of paintings, drawings, mixed media, collage, photography, original forms of printmaking, and hand-finished giclee prints.

    • We do not accept digital art, NFTs, video art, giclee prints without hand-embellishments, performance, or sound-based art.

    • The artwork submitted must be available for sale and exhibition at the Walthamstow gallery during November 2025.

    • The artwork must have been created in the last 3 years.

    • We cannot accept artworks larger than 150 x 200 cm or heavier

than 25 kg.

  1. Intellectual Property:

    • The artwork you enter must be your own intellectual property.

  2. Submission Requirements:

    • Submissions are free.

    • We require:

      • The artwork title, medium, size, and year created.

      • High-quality images of your artwork (3 images per submission: 1 overall and 2 detail images).

      • The Artwork story (a paragraph or two about your artwork and how it connects to the theme).

      • Your Story (tell us about your connection to Waltham Forest and your creative practice).

      • Your Artist CV (including your exhibiting history and artist bio).

      • Your contact details and VAT status.

      • Your website address and social media links.

Key Dates:

  • 7th July: Submissions open

  • 31st August: Submissions close

  • 14th September: Finalists notified

  • 8th October: Delivery of framed artworks to the gallery

  • 31st October: Private View

  • 1st November: Exhibition launch

  • 30th November: Exhibition closing

  • 2nd – 4th December: Collection of any unsold works (at our discretion)
