the artist

Sarah is a local Hackney based artist inspired by her walks around the Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes. Her paintings document paths taken and colours emerging over the changing seasons. Balancing fine painterly detail with loose gestural mark-making, Sarah enjoys exaggerating her colour palette and infusing her source images with vibrancy and energy - bringing a fresh approach to contemporary landscape painting.

the story

Hackney Marshes Meadow II continues from the old golf course, where overgrown grasses sway freely in the wind yet remain deeply rooted in the earth. Sarah captures this tension between movement and stillness, freedom and grounding, through fluid, expressive brushwork. The scene pulses with quiet energy, evoking the wild, resilient spirit of the Marshes.
