the artist
Sarah is a local Hackney based artist inspired by her walks around the Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes. Her paintings document paths taken and colours emerging over the changing seasons. Balancing fine painterly detail with loose gestural mark-making, Sarah enjoys exaggerating her colour palette and infusing her source images with vibrancy and energy - bringing a fresh approach to contemporary landscape painting.
the story
Autumn Tips captures the quiet magic of seasonal change, featuring Hackney Marshes in December. Rich amber leaves hold their colour, even as a glimmering frost begins to outline their edges. The soft rustle of foliage underfoot and the visible breath in the crisp air evoke a moment suspended between warmth and cold. As the chill creeps in, it traces the contours of each leaf like an exquisite piece of jewellery. With textured brushwork and an atmospheric palette, Sarah conveys the fleeting beauty of autumn, poised on the edge of winter.
