the artist

Sarah is a local Hackney based artist inspired by her walks around the Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes. Her paintings document paths taken and colours emerging over the changing seasons. Balancing fine painterly detail with loose gestural mark-making, Sarah enjoys exaggerating her colour palette and infusing her source images with vibrancy and energy - bringing a fresh approach to contemporary landscape painting.

Patterned leaves and interwoven stems take on a decorative quality in this playful, slightly retro-feeling composition. There's a gentle nostalgia here; echoes of winter nights when colour quietly emerges beneath a soft blanket of snow. With its layered textures and cosy charm, Chintsy Thicket invites the viewer into a world where nature feels both familiar and dreamlike, like a memory half-remembered.
