the artist

matt's work represents mis-remembered memories of places he's visited. instead of the physical representation of the place, he tries to capture the emotions of being there. Though abstract in their nature, his memoryscapes have the power to trigger memories of our own journeys near and far.

the story

as a pair to ‘the long way home’ this artwork celebrates the other side of the coin, the deep longing and wistful desire for home. it evokes nostalgia, triggers memory and remembers that common desire to return to the comfort of youth.

This is a unique abstract monotype on 250 GSM Hahnemuhle measuring 53 x 73 cm. It is framed floated on a soft white mount and set back within a contemporary slim white wood grain box frame measuring 65 x 86 cm. speciality art glass has been used to minimise reflection and provide uv protection.
