the artist

Canadian artist Carrie Jean Goldsmith is an abstract expressionist artist based in the UK. With rich, gestural and intuitive brushstrokes, Carrie creates compelling works which seem to dance and play with the light – always suggesting a hidden narrative. Much of this ambiguity arises from her connection to the landscape and the natural world – a constant source of inspiration behind these organic and textural compositions.

Carrie says: ““Me Recuerda” translates from Spanish to “you remind me” - a simple phrase, but one that carries a quiet emotional weight. I first heard “La Rambla” many years ago on Radio Tres while driving through Mallorca. The air was thick and hot, even slightly hazy. That atmosphere, and the music drifting through it, stayed with me. When I look at this painting, it brings me right back to that moment.”
