the artist

Canadian artist Carrie Jean Goldsmith is an abstract expressionist artist based in the UK. With rich, gestural and intuitive brushstrokes, Carrie creates compelling works which seem to dance and play with the light – always suggesting a hidden narrative. Much of this ambiguity arises from her connection to the landscape and the natural world – a constant source of inspiration behind these organic and textural compositions.

Carrie says: “Those familiar with my work will know that the mystical village of Deià in Mallorca holds a special place in my heart. Its hazy palette of pink blooms, sun-faded terracotta - captured in ‘Rosa & Terracotta’ - along with the ever-present shimmer of the sea, always inviting, always near, continues to inspire me. For me, “10 000 Emerald Pools” instantly evokes the feeling of being back in Deià, swimming in the Mediterranean, surrounded by light and colour.”
