the artist

Bristol based printmaker, Anna Harley’s eye-catching landscape prints have a stark freshness and graphic beauty. Her influences are varied and reflect her nomadic childhood, an arts and craft background and connections to places like Scandinavia and Japan. Each print-making journey is one of discovery, and she enjoys letting the process lead the artwork – embracing happy accidents and unexpected results along the way.

the sound

Anna says: “I used soft, ethereal colours and playful shadows in the print to evoke a sense of movement, as though the trees themselves are dancing in the moonlight - a visual nod to Van Morrison’s iconic ‘Moondance’. The title, drawn from the song, imbues the image with a sense of lightness and rhythm, yet beneath this, there is a deeper, more contemplative undertone. These shadows, moving and shifting with the light, feel like a representation of hope and movement, suggesting that even in the stillness of the night, there is always something stirring, something quietly evolving. It’s this quiet dance that, for me, connects the trees, the landscape, and sleepless nights; reminding us all that, just as the trees are ever-changing, so are we in our journey through life.”
