the artist
Bristol based printmaker, Anna Harley’s eye-catching landscape prints have a stark freshness and graphic beauty. Her influences are varied and reflect her nomadic childhood, an arts and craft background and connections to places like Scandinavia and Japan. Each print-making journey is one of discovery, and she enjoys letting the process lead the artwork – embracing happy accidents and unexpected results along the way.
the sound
Anna says: “’Still Waters’, with silhouettes of the native UK pines, invites viewers into a tranquil, imagined landscape where serenity and natural harmony converge. Pine trees, as living sentinels, have long provided shelter along the English countryside, deeply rooted in the region’s history.
Here, however, the pine trees also take on a metaphorical role. Standing tall, their forms reflected in the calm surface below, they capture a fleeting moment of quiet. This reflection is more than a visual detail - it becomes a symbol of the balance between the natural and our inner worlds. In this sense, the trees and their mirrored image form a bridge over troubled waters - a gentle reminder of the calm and clarity that nature can offer amidst the noise and rush of modern life.”
