the artist

rennie pilgrem is largely self-taught artist. he spent 20 years as a recording artist and producer and travelling the world as a dj. a few years ago he switched from the audio to the visual and this is what he concentrates on now. his main areas of work are printmaking: including traditional methods like mono prints and lino prints to cutting edge digital work available as giclée prints. 

the sound

Rennie says: "I’ve been creating dance music for 25 years, and I approach visual art much the same way. It all starts with an idea, then evolves by layering - just like adding instruments to a track. I have paired 'Island Life' with a track I featured in a recent mix 'Nordic'. I chose this one for its atmospheric quality and sense of space. The artwork makes use of negative space, with blank areas hinting at tree forms, while resin accents bring the subtle colours vividly to life."

This is an original acrylic and emulsion on veneer piece with resin measuring 29.5 x 22 cm.
