the artist

Bristol based printmaker, Anna Harley’s eye-catching landscape prints have a stark freshness and graphic beauty. Her influences are varied and reflect her nomadic childhood, an arts and craft background and connections to places like Scandinavia and Japan. Each print-making journey is one of discovery, and she enjoys letting the process lead the artwork – embracing happy accidents and unexpected results along the way.

the sound

Anna says: “‘Stardust’ was inspired by Willie Nelson’s timeless rendition of the song by the same name - a piece filled with longing, memory, and quiet romance. Listening to the soft, nostalgic tones of Nelson’s voice, I was transported to a warm summer night, where time seemed suspended and the air was rich with the intoxicating scent of lime tree flowers.

That moment became the essence of this print: a dark blue meditation beneath a canopy of trees, with stars shining above. The trees stand silhouetted, like guardians of memory, while stars flicker in the background like notes in the melody. Just as the song ‘Stardust’ speaks of a past love etched into the night sky of the mind, this artwork is a visual echo of that fleeting, fragrant moment. The gold leaf used for the stars reflects not only light, but also a sense of wonder - linking music, memory, and landscape into one suspended breath of night.”
