about the artist

johanna is a london based artist who explores contemporary portraiture and the female gaze. her experimental original works are created by pouring layers of diluted paint or ink on a flat surface in a series of translucent and fluid layers, rarely using a paintbrush. in her series of ink studies she uses original 1960s and 1970s vintage wallpaper to add further contrast with the bleeding, abstracted areas of poured ink.

“ink study 87” is an original ink and watercolour painting on board. it is mounted and framed in a 30 x 40 cm slim oak veneer aluminium frame.
