the artist

Sarah is a local Hackney based artist inspired by her walks around the Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes. Her paintings document paths taken and colours emerging over the changing seasons. Balancing fine painterly detail with loose gestural mark-making, Sarah enjoys exaggerating her colour palette and infusing her source images with vibrancy and energy - bringing a fresh approach to contemporary landscape painting.

the story

Hackney Marshes Meadow I is painted from the vantage of the old golf course, where a winding path draws the viewer into the heart of the landscape. The composition leads the eye gently through textured strokes and subtle hues; it is an invitation to wander through a quiet, painterly vision of nature, rich with softness and depth.
