the artist

Sarah is a local Hackney based artist inspired by her walks around the Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes. Her paintings document paths taken and colours emerging over the changing seasons. Balancing fine painterly detail with loose gestural mark-making, Sarah enjoys exaggerating her colour palette and infusing her source images with vibrancy and energy - bringing a fresh approach to contemporary landscape painting.

the story

This small canvas plays with density and movement, pulling the eye into a swirl of organic shapes and expressive brushstrokes. Burgundy-outlined, sharp-edged leaves cut across one another in a layered rhythm, creating a sense of tension and flow. The composition feels both tangled and intentional, an abstracted study of urban nature where growth is unruly, but never without purpose.
