the artist

Sarah is a local Hackney based artist inspired by her walks around the Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes. Her paintings document paths taken and colours emerging over the changing seasons. Balancing fine painterly detail with loose gestural mark-making, Sarah enjoys exaggerating her colour palette and infusing her source images with vibrancy and energy - bringing a fresh approach to contemporary landscape painting.

the story

Woods Scene II draws from a vivid memory of walking over Friend’s Bridge toward the Waterworks Nature Reserve. A moment that lingered with Sarah becomes the seed for this piece. Through layered, expressive brushstrokes, she transforms a quiet corner of Waterworks Meadow into something luminous and alive, where light, texture and feeling converge on the edge of abstraction.
