the artist
Sarah is a local Hackney based artist inspired by her walks around the Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes. Her paintings document paths taken and colours emerging over the changing seasons. Balancing fine painterly detail with loose gestural mark-making, Sarah enjoys exaggerating her colour palette and infusing her source images with vibrancy and energy - bringing a fresh approach to contemporary landscape painting.
the story
Frosted Tips II is a richly coloured landscape of Hackney Marshes in December, delicately finished with shimmering detail to evoke the fleeting beauty of the season’s turn. Each leaf is edged with frost, as if traced in molten silver, giving form and focus to every individual shape. Beyond, a dense fog softens the distance, yet the branches reach forward, bold and untamed, emerging from the haze with warm tawny and deep plum tones. Sarah captures not only the visual poetry of frost and foliage but the quiet tension between stillness and movement, order and wildness.
