about the artist
Mark McClure works at the meeting point of art, design and architecture. His practice moves between wall-based pieces, sculpture and public art – each shaped by his long-standing fascination with geometry and the built environment. Working with reclaimed wood, metal and paint, he constructs surfaces that catch light and shadow, inviting the eye to follow edges, rhythms and quiet shifts in tone. Though his process often begins digitally, it finds its resolve through touch – measuring, cutting, assembling, sanding. The result is work that feels both precise and human – structured, but with a pulse beneath
the story
‘Lens (Panel II)’ is an original acrylic serigraph on wood, inspired by the architectural shapes and shifting perspectives found around Mark’s home in Walthamstow. The work transforms fragments of the urban landscape into a play of rhythm, balance, and form. Layers of colour and geometry intersect like light through glass, echoing the structures that define the city. Both precise and expressive, the artwork distils Walthamstow’s built environment into an abstract composition.
