about the artist
Mark McClure works at the meeting point of art, design and architecture. His practice moves between wall-based pieces, sculpture and public art – each shaped by his long-standing fascination with geometry and the built environment. Working with reclaimed wood, metal and paint, he constructs surfaces that catch light and shadow, inviting the eye to follow edges, rhythms and quiet shifts in tone. Though his process often begins digitally, it finds its resolve through touch – measuring, cutting, assembling, sanding. The result is work that feels both precise and human – structured, but with a pulse beneath
the story
‘Illegal Rave 4.4’ was inspired by the distant sounds of lockdown parties on Walthamstow Marshes – fragments of music and laughter carried across the night. Cycling home along Coppermill Lane after late printing sessions, Mark felt that pulse merge with the hum of the city. In this original print, those memories take form through vibrant reds, deep blues, and sharp geometric cuts – an explosion of rhythm and light.
