the artist
Anna’s minimalist mark-making is like poetry – each brushstroke and splash of paint carefully considered and deliberate – laden with meaning and purpose. A London-based artist, she most often works with water-based medias on paper, raw canvas and wood – the organic properties of these materials shining through. Transformation and Japanese aesthetics are key areas of focus, with influences from the zen philosophy ‘Ma’ and Shibumi principles.
the sound
Anna says: “I visited a dear friend in Arizona last year — a place that made such a deep impression on me, I ended up creating an entire collection of paintings inspired by its landscape. He sent me The Orb’s ‘Little Fluffy Clouds,’ and if you listen closely, the dialogue in it feels like it’s describing not just the Arizona sky, but also this painting.”
