the artist
Anna’s minimalist mark-making is like poetry – each brushstroke and splash of paint carefully considered and deliberate – laden with meaning and purpose. A London-based artist, she most often works with water-based medias on paper, raw canvas and wood – the organic properties of these materials shining through. Transformation and Japanese aesthetics are key areas of focus, with influences from the zen philosophy ‘Ma’ and Shibumi principles.
the sound
Anna says: “During my trip to Arizona last year, I listened often to Michael Dulin’s ‘Simply Satie’ - a dreamy piece that beautifully captures the quiet brilliance of Satie’s Gymnopédies, focusing more on tone and atmosphere than literal interpretation. Beyond being incredibly beautiful, the music takes me back to that magical time in Arizona. I deeply connect with Dulin’s approach - it mirrors my own in painting, especially in this piece, where I’ve tried to evoke the Arizona landscape not as it is, but as I remember it.”
