the artist

Tam Chianta’s abstract paintings capture the shifting moods of sky, water, and light. Living beside Lloyd Park in Walthamstow, she draws inspiration from daily walks and the transient beauty of nature. Working in rhythmic brushstrokes and rich layers of colour, she explores balance and impermanence – how form and feeling evolve moment to moment. Her works radiate vibrancy and movement, reflecting both the physical environment and the emotional landscapes it mirrors. Each painting becomes a meditation on flow, community, and change.

the story

‘An Earthly State’ features a vibrant mass of colour and pattern that flows and intertwines across the canvas. Colour is central to Tam’s creative process – she mixes primary hues directly on the canvas, allowing new combinations to emerge organically. For this piece, she drew inspiration from the colours of her surroundings in Waltham Forest - from the earthy tones of brick and the vivid murals to the greens of its many open spaces.
