about the artist

Angela Dierks creates dreamlike abstract paintings suffused with emotion and light. Her work draws upon her background as a psychotherapist, weaving together the inner landscape of feeling with painterly exploration. Gentle yet vibrant, her compositions evoke themes of love, hope, and joy, translating subtle states of mind into visually poetic form. Having spent many years in Walthamstow, Angela feels deeply connected to its creative spirit and community. Her works for this exhibition capture the rhythm and colour of local life, expressing the vibrancy and tenderness that run through her experience of the Stow.

the story

A companion to ‘Ultramarine Nights I’, this piece captures the spirit of a summer night out in Walthamstow Village – the hum of voices, the warmth of shared company beneath an imagined ultramarine sky. Angela’s bright colour fields echo the diversity and vibrancy of the Stow, each shade alive with presence and story. Fine sgraffito lines trace the fragments of conversation drifting through the air, preserving the fleeting energy of a community gathered beneath the soft blue of night.
